One more light album review
Relationships began and ended babies were born and people died. There were celebrations, mistakes, accidents, recoveries. More than ever, the content of our album was shaped by the content of our lives.Īnd as we “dug the tunnel” of this album, life kept happening. Over the course of the year, our lives took twists and turns, for better and worse. Each song started with the question, “what do we want to sing about today?” In starting with the content of each song, the album became anchored by our stories. We have our ideas about where we’re going, but usually, there’s really no telling where we’ll end up until we get there. We go underground for months at a time, thrashing around in the dark, looking for something new and unexpected. We often compare our process to digging a tunnel. From brainstorms to arguments, wild experiments to meticulous details, we focus an intense amount of energy into each song. The six of us are avid listeners and have a lot of opinions. We’ll do whatever it takes in service of the music. " When we sit in a room together, writing a song, the rest of the world often disappears. Give this album a chance.Īs Linkin Park wrote this for their fans upon release:

Focus on the message that every song relays on this album. Heavy - the message of this song relates to my situation months ago.Īgain, I understand the hate but don't focus on the sound. Sorry for Now - I liked this song because the message has the same feeling that I've been keeping for yearsģ. It is because this reminds me of my own song "Memories"Ģ. One More Light - not because its the title track. Folk/Country sound and also reminds me of The Messenger from A Thousand Suns.ġ. Sharp Edges - the appropriate ending to the album. When they played this live, it was a piano ballad that reminds me of their Leave Out of The Rest/ Shadow of the Day/ Iridescent medley and also their Minutes to Midnight closer Little Things Give You Awayġ0.

This is more of a dedication to a friend who passed away. One More Light - for the first time LP has a title of their album as a song. If you're a DJ, it would be easier to remix this song.ĩ. Halfway Right - more emotional lyrics from Chester but with EDM, and Hip-hop sound. A combined experiment of Joe Hahn and Mike though.Ĩ. Sorry for Now - an Owl City-ish on this song also Mike doing the main vocals and Chester sing/rap on the bridge part of the song. Their most controversial song in this album.ħ. This has simple drumbeat with more piano parts of Mike and can easily catch the listener's attention. Heavy - emotional song with Kiiara on the fold. Also almost the same intro as the Castle of Glass.Ħ. Reminiscent of Iridescent with gang vocals. Invisible - more pop vibe and Mike singing the whole song. Yeah, NBA used this as their official song in the NBA Playoffs. It has electronic pop kind of vibe they've had. Battle Symphony - my other favorite on this album. Talking to Myself - this is one of my favorite tracks on this album because this one is their rockier songs. Anyway, they have live version of this song though.ģ. I personally liked this song because of the hip-hop vibe and Mike raps on this one but it should've been more of Mike's rap than Pusha T and Stormzy. Good Goodbye - of course, they recently released the music video which features Pusha T and Stormzy with NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

An electronic pop-vibe that makes you dance. In contrast, this song is one of the best openers in their discography. Nobody Can Save Me - first of all, this track sounds like Justin Bieber-type in which LP fans hate.
